This week, Amanda Ochart, a child care teacher from Richmond, VA joined a delegation of Fight for $15 workers who headed to Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, and elsewhere across Europe.
She was there meeting with underpaid European workers who have fought and rallied for better conditions for themselves and their families, and was able to share her passion and experiences from the Fight for $15 in America.
“My job and my passion is to raise amazing kids—and I’m good at it. But if I keep making just $10 an hour, I’m afraid I’ll have to find a job that I don’t love and let down the kids I care about,” Amanda said. “We deserve a wage that reflects the incredible work we do.”
While Amanda was in Europe, news broke that McDonald’s may have violated EU anti-trust laws. You can read more in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
