Fight for $15 Child Care goes coast to coast

Child care workers, parents, and elected officials came together in Oakland, CA and Hamden, CT this week to discuss the need for child care for all and a living wage and union rights for child care providers.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) read aloud to kids in a child care center before taking part in a roundtable with parents, workers, center directors, and local elected officials. She said “we need to improve the quality of services by guaranteeing a living wage of $15 an hour.”

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) also read a story to kids when she visited Pam Sharp, a family child care provider, and spoke with parents. “All families deserve access to affordable childcare,” she said.
